AUT PIMA SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are available for Pacific people wanting to study communications in 2009. Two scholarships are on offer - one undergraduate and one post-graduate - for New Zealand-resident Pacific Islanders.

The awards are sponsored and organised by AUT’s School of Communication Studies and Community Partnership Office in conjunction with PIMA.

To be eligible, candidates must meet AUT's entry requirements into the School of Communications Studies. Candidates must also demonstrate academic ability and a commitment to their Pacific Island community, for example involvement in community projects, and leadership contributions where relevant.

Successful applicants will help promote the AUT Communication Studies Programme and PIMA where appropriate.

The scholarships have been available since 2001 and cover tuition fees for a maximum of four papers a semester (including student services fees and student association fees) for one year of fulltime study. Extra curricular costs will be the responsibility of the student. Scholarships may be renewable, subject to academic performance.

A student must be a New Zealand resident.

PIMA HOME

Pacific Islands Media Association is an Aotearoa based advocacy and monitoring body aimed at supporting sustained development of islands media.

Established in 2001, PIMA has quietly built on partnerships and networks to help build awareness of islands media issues in Aotearoa, and across the region.

Now PIMA is ready to take things to the next level - by first checking our roots - with an annual general meeting theme "pac to the future."
